2026 DE Jermaine Kinsler deserves MVP, Notre Dame speaks

HACKENSACK, NJ – Jermaine Kinsler‍ has dozens of scholarship offers and is already rated as one of the nation’s top prospects in the Class of 2026.

But that didn’t stop the New Jersey defensive lineman from coming to the Under Armor Next Football Camp Series here at Hackensack High School on Sunday.

And the Bergen Catholic star received Defensive Line MVP honors for his efforts.

The award isn’t likely to get the 6-foot-1, 250-pounder much more attention from college coaches, but only because he’s had enough of it already.

Kinsler’s offer sheet includes schools such as Notre Dame, Penn State, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Kinsler’s Irish bid came as part of Notre Dame’s Pot of Gold Day on St. Patrick’s Day.

“It was actually a surreal moment,” he said of Notre Dame’s offer. “I’ve been looking at that school since I was a little kid.

“I’ve heard good things about the campus and everything. I can’t wait to get there and visit.”

He hasn’t committed to anything yet, but he has one date circled in his head.

“I think I’ll be there for the home opener,” he said, referring to Ireland’s Sept. 7 game against Northern Illinois.

Kinsler has kept in regular contact with Irish defensive coach Al Washington and defensive assistant Nick Sebastian.

“He’s a very caring person,” Kinsler said of Washington. “(Sebastian) has also contacted me a lot. They’re all good guys.

“They basically just ask how I’m doing at school and during training and stuff.”

He looks forward to connecting when he arrives in South Bend.

“I just want to meet Coach Al in person, get really close to him because I really like the school,” he said before adding that he also hopes to get a sense of what the family atmosphere is like within the program and the school.

So far, Kinsler’s only firm plans include a visit to Rutgers, but he will certainly add more dates.

Relationships will be critical when decision time comes.

“Just the relationship with my position coach and the head coach,” Kinsler said of what the biggest factors will be in his hiring.
