Point Pleasant Boro will win if: It can turn it into a brawl. The Panthers have lost just two games all season – and both are to No. 10 Donovan Catholic. This will be the second year in a row that Point Pleasant Boro has reached the finals, last year as a No. 6 seed and this season as a No. 4. It has a .402 batting average and has hit the ball against almost everyone. The Panthers don’t have tremendous power or speed, so they will have to stack their hits, which is what they have done most of the season. Each starter has a score of .293 or higher, so multiple lopsided numbers are possible.

Toms River East will win if: Keep it close. The Raiders are 3-0 in one-run games, including two games in this tournament. They are also 5-0 in games decided by three runs or less. However, their five losses have all been by six points or more and they have given up 61 points in those games, including 32 in the last two against Pinelands and Jackson. They have won three games by shutout and defeated Southern 2-1, which was their best win of the season just a week ago. They also advanced to the finals with a 10-9 win against Toms River North, so they can win on either a low or high score, but they can’t let the game get away from them. Pitcher Kaleigh Fitzgibbons has had her moments this year and will need to keep walks to a minimum as Point Pleasant Boro will benefit from free passes.

Prediction: Point Pleasant Boro 9, Toms River East 5
