BALLOTS ARE COMING IN FOR THE 2024 PRIMARY ELECTIONS – KQEN News Radio

Ballots for the May 2024 Douglas County primary went out last week and are now being returned to the County Clerk’s office.

Clerk Daniel Loomis has some reminders for voters:

*Ballots must be cast by May 21 at 8 p.m

*Voters may use the US Postal Service or another official polling place in Oregon to cast their ballot

*Douglas County has 15 official polling places, including eight ballot drop-off locations

*Before returning their ballot, voters should ensure they have read and completed both sides of their ballot

*The voter declaration on the return envelope must be signed

Voters may receive a replacement ballot if their original ballot was destroyed, damaged, lost or not received by the voter. Contact or visit the Douglas County Elections Office for assistance.

As of late Monday, 0.34 percent, or 300 ballots, have been returned. That remains 1.7 percent behind the participation rate for the same item in the previous primary election in Douglas County in May 2020.

By comparison, the number of voters in the province has increased by 8.43 percent since the previous election in 2020, or 6,956 voters.
