Springfield, Illinois – The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that we have hired Jon Skarlis as our new assistant coach for the 2024-2025 season.

A native of Waterloo, IA, Skarlis comes to Springfield after serving as Associate Head Coach of the 2023-24 Dineen Cup Champion South Shore Kings, where he oversaw the defense and power play units. Prior to this season, Jon spent one season as an assistant coach at Lawrence University and two years as head coach of the South Shore Kings 18U team.

Before beginning his coaching journey, Jon played junior hockey for the Valley Jr. Warriors in the EHL and the Alexandria Blizzard and Wisconsin Whalers in the NA3HL. He went on to play NCAA Division III hockey at Bethel University, where he graduated in 2019.

We would like to welcome Jon to Jr. Blues upon his arrival here in Springfield!
