Adwoa Aboah is pregnant! Model ditches the designer dress to show off her baby bump in a crop top and ruffled skirt from H&M on the A-list red carpet

Adwoa Aboah has revealed she is pregnant with her first child as she debuted her baby bump at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday.

The Top Boy star, 31, showed off the blossoming bump in a quirky ensemble for the glitzy fashion night in New York City.

Instead of donning a big-budget designer dress, Adwoa took inspiration from an iconic high street brand as she showed off her bump in a red ruffled crop top from H&M.

The top consisted of a capelet of fiery red silk organza, whose tulle ruffles resembled petals, worn over a bralette delicately embroidered with rhinestones.

Adwoa’s look was paired with a voluminous, round-hemmed skirt in red silk taffeta, which added an effortlessly modern touch to this charm-infused confection.

About the look, Adwoa said: ”My Met Gala looks are always very instinctive. I love delving into the theme, but I always want to feel completely like myself with the confidence to stand out from the rest.

‘We created a look to mark a very special moment in my life.’

Adwoa is currently in a relationship with American skater Daniel Wheatley, 33, who she has been dating since last year.

The couple often keeps their romance low-key, occasionally sharing cozy snaps of each other on birthdays and special occasions.

Last year she chatted with PORTER talked about conquering the fashion world.

Speaking about the modeling world, the Netflix star said: ‘You reach a stage in your career where you no longer do group photos or covers.’

‘You do your own campaigns and editing. It will be a very lonely job and experience. And so (on set) I loved being able to be with people all the time.”

She openly shared that rejection is part of the job: “I think I have about ten million layers of skin because I had to do a lot of self-work very early in my twenties.

‘Do not get me wrong; there were a few parts this year that I came close to and really wanted. I learn every time. I just feel like something is coming. I don’t know when it will happen, but I have every confidence in it.’

Adwoa has been open about her problems with drink and drugs, previously saying she tried marijuana at the age of 14 before moving on to harder drugs.

Last year she revealed that she was “forced to take myself apart and put it all back together” while in a treatment center for her drug addiction.

The socialite and former Vogue front cover star added that she is “lucky” to be sober and undergoing treatment as it forces her to face herself and her addiction issues.

Speaking on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast for World Mental Health Day, she said: ‘I was lucky enough to go into treatment, so I met a crazy variety of people there who had been through all kinds of different things.

‘It gives you a kick when you are forced to really confront yourself. I’m actually very lucky. A lot of down-to-earth people say that. I think I was very lucky to have to deal with it now.’

‘Pushed to put aside all the judgments I had about other people. Pushed to take myself apart and put it all back together so I could see things a little differently.

‘Even though it was some pretty f***ing s**t, I feel lucky to be very honest that I was given this opportunity to do things differently and to look at situations in a more empathetic way. ‘

The model, who often appears front row at major fashion shows, has been open about her problems with drink and drugs – in 2016 she spoke candidly about trying marijuana for the first time at the age of 14 after getting drunk at a house party.

From then on, she said she tried cocaine and ketamine, the latter being the drug that “really got her.”

Using her platform to raise awareness for Mental Health Week, she added: ‘I’ve resigned myself to the fact that life is so messy and your mental health journey couldn’t be further from linear.

“So the fact is it just ebbs and flows and we find ways to cope and then we’re confronted with something else, whether it’s grief or identity or love or sex, it’s endless.

“I think because our stories change and evolve, and we grow, our perspective on things changes, and it’s so crazy that you can look at a situation that happened a few years ago and then, with some age and wisdom, suddenly rephrases and you They say, “Okay, maybe it was my fault.”

“Or maybe there are different ways we can look at things, I think that certainly comes with age. I have really started to set those boundaries and know what is good for me and what is not good for me.’

Stars in attendance on the night included Kim Kardashian, who sent shockwaves as she flaunted her astonishingly tiny waist in a custom-made silver Maison Margiela dress by John Galliano.

Her sister Kylie Jenner kept it simple and chic in a rosewater strapless Oscar de la Renta dress, paired with a rose in her hair.

Jennifer Lopez posed up a storm on the steps in a dazzling, sparkling, sheer, bejeweled ensemble.

Fellow co-chair Zendaya made a statement in a blue and green custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano dress, with branch and fruit accents.

Zendaya rocked a second look for the Met Gala — a black Givenchy by John Galliano 1996 dress — with a 2007 Alexander McQueen floral hat.

The Costume Institute’s Spring Exhibition falls on the first Monday in May each year and is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year the event was called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, while the dress code was The Garden of Time.

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth served as this year’s co-chairs. Vogue’s is also on the committee Anna Wintour.

The chairs of honor for the evening were Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

“This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements and each has their own style history at the Met Gala,” Vogue said.

The display case contains approximately 250 items from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, many of which are too fragile to ever be worn again.

The pieces are all rendered using elements such as AI, GCI and more, while themes such as land, sea and sky are played out.

“It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,” says Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator responsible for The Costume Institute, about the upcoming exhibition.

“One thing I hope this show will activate is the sensory appreciation of fashion.”

Stars in attendance on the night included Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Cardi B and Emily Ratajkowski.

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham hosted while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain was on hand to interview stars on the red carpet.

Last year’s gala honored the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
